When and Where is Migration?
The Serengeti Migration takes place throughout the year in the vast expanses of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. The timing and location of the migration vary depending on the season and weather patterns. The journey typically begins in the southern Serengeti around December, as the herds start calving, attracting predators to the area. From April to June, the migration moves northward towards the western corridor, culminating in the dramatic river crossings at the Grumeti and Mara rivers. By July, the herds enter the Maasai Mara, where they remain until October, before making their way back south.
