Normally, it start with a drive or biking (for bikers) from Moshi town to the Materuni village, a short and nature walking (Approx 30mn) which takes you through the lush rainforest, banana farm and leads you to the waterfalls. An offer for the scenic natural attraction located in the foothills of the Mount Kilimanjaro (5895M), the 80 meters waterfalls down (Materuni Waterfalls). An addition, picnic lunch for local food will be provided, then followed by class for educational and interactive experience that allows visitors to learn about the proccess of coffee production and tasting locally.
Located just 15 kilometers away from the town of Moshi and 94km Arusha City, you will have a drive to the village whetever your drive begins in Moshi 30 to 40minutes or Arusha you might take 2.5 to 3hours.
After reaching the village you will immediately begin your tour by exploring the chagga land, your guide will give you insights on their beautiful culture as you feast your eyes on the beautiful landscape full of local fruits and vegetables. You will then begin your short trek to the waterfalls which tak about (30mn - 40mn), while doing so , don’t hesitate to ask more questions about the local people and their culture as there are lot of new things you might learn and even find fascinating.
The waterfall splashes into the pool where you may decide to swim or just stare at the mesmerizing sight. As you wish you are free to take unlimited photos just for your memor and may be during writting review, since tur is a full day package you are free to stay as long as you wish. The guide will be waiting untill you notfy him/her to leave, on the same way back which may take approximately 30mn and go direct to guide's home for the rest of activity(s).
Heading over to the coffee makers, and learn how to make coffee from seed, the guide will show you how to grind and roast them and finally make a fresh cup of coffee.
A tasty picnic lunch local food from Chagga tribe with different fruits from the village will be offered, before or after the coffee class, that will depend on your booking information (Vetarian, Vergan, ..). Typically we say Karibu as the same you are welcome.
After the all above activities you will have a drive back to either Moshi Town(30-40mn) or Arusha city(2.5 to 3 hrs) depending on your request and agreements. Do not hastate to ask you driver anything you are in need to know about on the way.
